Here’s the last catch up of our tournaments to bring us up to date. This report from ‘The Professor’ Jimmy Henry is from the OB 10 Ball West Auckland leg of the Anywhere in the World Tour that was held at Massé New Lynn last Saturday.
A good field of over 50 players attended the New Lynn leg of Anywhere in the World tournament. At the end of the day it was the well-respected Filipino maestro Raymond Sayo who added the New Lynn 10 ball Championship to his resume, by beating Healey White in a close and exciting final 7-6.
In the final, Healey lead most of the way, but missing a few relatively easy 10 balls kept Raymond in the game. At 6-4 up Healey looked to have the title in the bag, but Raymond’s composure, positive attitude and the ability to hang in there got him home.Raymond definitely deserved the overall title as he was the one who knocked out tournament favourite Marco Teutscher 6/5 in a nail biting quarter final.
It was another great tournament for the young gun Kieran Dempsey who has made 3 semi-finals in a row! Well done to all the other juniors who participated, you get a lot of experience from playing with the seniors which will greatly improve your game.
Player of the day goes to Danny Kerkhoven who has once again showed some great form by beating some class players along the way. Honourable mention to Yuki Takahashi who has also had some good results lately.
Next 10 ball tournament is the National 10 ball championship, held at Pukekohe on the 9th of November. Pukekohe has upgraded the lighting system on every table, which will make table time much more enjoyable. So bring a new friend with you (in dress code) so they too can play in the cheapest tournament around and get some valuable experience.
